This test will check that sound indicator works correctly
Requires media to be available for media application and for sound to be working
- Click sound indicator in panel
- Sound menu appears
- Select and click available media application
- Selected application opens
- Click play in indicator menu
- Music plays in selected source
- Change volume on indicator menu
- Notification of volume changes appears
- Volume of playing application changes
- Press Forward
- Track playing in source moves forward to next
- Press Back
- Track playing in source moves backward to previous
- Press Pause
- Track playing in source pauses
- If choose playlist is available, select new playlist
- Playlist changes, previous playing track stops, first track in new playlist plays
If more than one media application is available in indicator, complete the above test for each application
- Press Sound Settings
- pavucontrol opens
This test will check that messages indicator works correctly
If server connection is not available prior to the following test, this is not cause to fail the test indicator-messages is not available until an application that appears in the indicator has been run and the install rebooted - if this is not available please do not test
- Click messages indicator in panel
- Message menu appears
- Select Pidgin from the menu
- Pidgin starts and connects to server if suitable settings are available
If connected to server, complete the following test
- From messaging menu, select a different online status
- Pidgin reflects the new online status
This test will check that Network indicator works correctly
Internet connectivity will be lost during this test
- Click network indicator in panel
- Network menu appears
- Click Edit
- Network Connections dialogue opens
- Click Information
- Connection Information dialogue opens
- Click Enable Networking
- Networking is disabled, notification of being offline
- Click Enable Networking
- Networking is enabled, notification of available connection
- Click VPN Connections
- Network Connections dialogue brought to front
- Click Disconnect
- Notification of being offline
- Click your available connection
- Notification of available connection
This test will check that power indicator works correctly
The power indicator menu will look different depending on whether you're testing a laptop or a desktop.
- Click power indicator (battery icon) in panel
- Power menu appears
- Select "Power manager settings..."
- The Xfce Power Manager dialogue opens at the General tab
- Close the Xfce Power Manager dialogue
If testing a laptop, complete the following tests.
- Click the power indicator in the panel
- Power menu appears
- Click on the battery status indication
- The Xfce Power Manager dialogue opens at the Devices tab
- Close the Xfce Power Manager dialogue
- Click the power indicator in the panel
- Power menu appears
- Move the Display Brightness slider
- The laptop display dims/brighens
