This test will check that LXRandR can change the screen resolution
- Click on the Lubuntu icon in your panel, then on "Preferences" and "Monitor Settings"
- LXRandR opens in a new window
- Set the resolution to "800x600" and refresh rate to "Auto". Click on Apply
- The screen resolution changes and click ok on popup appears with the dialog asking "is everything OK? Confirm within 15 seconds otherwise previous state will be restored."
- LXRandR stays open and press the cancel button to make sure it closes.
- Click on the Lubuntu icon in your panel, then on "Preferences" and "Monitor Settings"
- LXRandR opens in a new window
- Set the resolution to "Auto" and refresh rate to "Auto". Click on Apply
- The screen resolution changes back to your former resolution and LXRandR stays open.
This test will check that LXRandR allows users to revert to the orginal screen resolution if they make a mistake.
- In the window with LXRandR you left open click change resolution and select 800x600 and click apply.
- The monitor will popup asking "is everything OK? Confirm within 15 seconds otherwise previous state will be restored."
- At this dialog box do nothing until 15 seconds pass to check that the resolution automatically reverts.
- The screen should revert to the resolution that it sets when set in auto.
- In the same LXRandR window click on resolution and select 1024x768.
- The resolution should change to 1024x768 and a popup should appear stating "is everything OK? Confirm within 15 seconds otherwise previous state will be restored."
- Press the enter key on your keyboard and the resolution should return to your to resolution set in Auto
- The The screen resolution resets to the default value and LXRandR remains open.
This test will check that LXRandR will save a users resolution between sessions. The following test will involve logging out of the lubuntu session so make sure to save any open work.
- In the field for resolution select 1024x768 hit apply
- a popup should appeare asking "is everything OK? Confirm within 15 seconds otherwise previous state will be restored."
- on the keyboard press the tab key twice and press enter to apply the new resolution
- The resolution should change to 1024x768
- click the button on the left side of LXRandR that says save.
- A box should popup saying configuration saved
- Now to check that LXRandR saved settings go to the lxde menu and select logout
- You should return to the lightdm greeter and have a login screen
- Enter your password and log back into the Lubuntu session
- The monitor should have the same resolution as before you logged out
The following tests require a second monitor. If you do not have one, skip the tests.
This test will check that LXRandR can handle 2 monitors
- Plug in your monitor.
- Click on the Lubuntu icon in your panel, then on "Preferences" and "Monitor Settings"
- LXRandR opens in a new window.
- Unchek "Turn on" for your laptop (or first) monitor. Click on apply.
- LXRandR closes. Only the external monitor is operating
- Click on the Lubuntu icon in your panel, then on "Preferences" and "Monitor Settings"
- LXRandR opens in a new window
- Uncheck "Turn On" for your external monitor. Click on Apply
- LXRandR closes. Only the laptop (or first) monitor is operating
