Text | This test will check the applications list
- Click on Applications in the navigation menu.
- PCManFM shows categories of applications.
- Double Click on Internet.
- PCManFM window shows identical listing to the Internet applications in the panel menu.
This test will check basic file management
- Click on the PCManFM icon in the task bar.
- The PCManFM Window appears.
- Click on Desktop in the PCManFM navigation menu.
- Contents of your desktop appear.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Create New and select Folder.
- Window appears, prompting for folder name.
- Enter test and click on OK.
- New folder called test appears.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Create New and select File.
- Window appears, prompting for file name.
- Enter moveme.txt and click on OK.
- A new file called moveme.txt appears.
- Click on the file moveme.txt, then drag and drop into the folder test.
- File moveme.txt moves to the folder test. Double click folder test to confirm the file moveme.txt is there.
- Click on the < icon in the navigation section
- The PCManFM window now displays your desktop.
- Right click on the folder test, select Move to Trash.
- A window pops up requesting confirmation.
- Click OK.
- Folder test no longer appears in the PCManFM window.
- Click on Trash(or Rubbish) Can in the navigation menu.
- Folder test is displayed.
- Right click on folder test and select Restore.
- Folder test no longer appears.
- Click on the < icon in the navigation section
- PCManFM window now displays desktop and folder test is now visible.
- Right click on the folder test, select Move to Trash.
- Window pops up requesting confirmation.
- Click on OK.
- Folder test no longer appears in PCManFM window.
- Click on Trash(or Rubbish) Can in side bar menu.
- Folder test is displayed.
- Right click on the folder test and select Delete.
- Window pops up requesting confirmation.
- Click OK.
- Folder test no longer appears in the PCManFM window.
- Click on File in the navigation menu and select Close Window.
- PCManFM closes.
- Click on the PCManFM icon in the task bar.
- PCManFM Window appears.
- Click on 'X' at top of PCManFM window.
- PCManFM closes.
This test will check bookmark management
- Click on the Bookmarks menu and select + Add to Bookmarks
- A window appears asking you to Enter a name for the new bookmark item.
- Type in Home and click on OK.
- Home appears in the sidebar.
- Right click on Home and select Rename Bookmark Item.
- Window appears asking you to Enter a new name.
- Type in Del and click on OK.
- Entry on sidebar changes from Home to Del.
- Right click on Del and select Remove from Bookmark.
- The entry Del no longer appears in the sidebar.
This test will check the 'open in terminal' functionality
- Click on Desktop in left hand panel.
- PCManFM shows contents of Desktop directory.
- Click on Tools and select Open Current Folder in Terminal.
- Terminal launches showing the Desktop directory.
This test will check the 'right click' functionality
- Click on Home icon in left hand panel.
- PCManFM shows listing of folders and files.
- Right click on Desktop.
- A second menu appears, offering such things as options to open, copy folder etc.
This test will check tab management
- Click on File select New Tab
- Two tabs appear of the current directory.
- Click on the second tab and drag it so that appears before the first tab.
- Tab moves.
- Click on the X on the tab label.
- Tab closes.
This test will check USB device management
- Plug in USB device
- Window appears saying Removable medium is inserted and asking if you want to Open in File Manager.
- Click OK.
- Contents of USB device appears in PCManFM window and device is listed in the PCManFM panel.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Create New and select Folder.
- Window appears, prompting for folder name.
- Enter test and click on OK.
- New folder called test appears in PCManFM window.
- Right click on the folder test and click on Copy .
- No error should be reported.
- Click on Desktop in navigation section.
- PCManFM window now displays desktop.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Paste.
- Folder test should appear.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Create New and select Folder.
- Window appears, prompting for folder name.
- Enter test1 and click on OK.
- New folder called test1 appears in PCManFM window.
- Right click on the folder test1 and click on Copy .
- No error should be reported.
- Click on USB device in PCManFM panel.
- PCManFM window now displays USB device.
- In the PCManFM Window, right click on a blank section and click on Paste.
- Folder test1 should appear.
- Click on Desktop in navigation section.
- PCManFM window now displays desktop.
- Right click on the USB device in the PCManFM panel, select Eject Removable Media.
- The USB device is no longer listed in the PCManFM panel.
This test will check view management
- Click on Home Folder in left hand panel.
- PCManFM shows contents of home directory.
- Click on View and select Show Hidden.
- Files beginning with . are listed.
- Hold down Fn/em>; key and press PrtSC key.
- File appears in window with name ending scrot.png
- Click on View and select Thumbnail View .
- Icons appear as thumbnails and the file ending scrot.png has an image of the file.
- Click on View and select Compact View.
- Icons are reduced in size.
- Click on View and select Detailed View.
- Folders and files appears with several columns: Name, Description, Size and Modified.
- Click on View then Sort Files followed by Descending.
- Files are sorted by name, and in a inversed order.
- Click on View then Sort Files followed by By Modification Time.
- Files are sorted by modification time, and in a inversed order.
- Click on View then Sort Files followed by Size.
- Files are sorted by size, and in a inversed order.
- Click on View then Sort Files followed by FileType.
- Files are sorted by file type, and in a inversed order.
