- Navigate to the settings menu
- Open "Mouse and Touchpad"
- xfce4 mouse settings opens
This tests that Devices of xfce4 mouse settings works
- Click the "Devices" tab
- Click the "Device:" drop down list
- A menu rolls down
- Select one of the devices
- Untick "Enable this device"
- The selected device no longer responds
- Press Enter to re-tick "Enable the device"
- The device responds again
- Click the "Left-handed" radio button
- The mouse buttons reverse
- Click the "Right-handed" radio button
- The mouse buttons return to normal
- Tick "Reverse scroll direction"
- Both forward/back and side-to-side scrolling reverse
- Untick "Reverse scroll direction"
- Both forward/back and side-to-side scrolling are returned to normal
- Adjust the "Acceleration" bar
- The cursor accelerates slower or faster depending on how you move the bar
- Adjust the "Sensitivity" bar
- The cursor becomes more or less sensitive depending on how you move the bar
- Click "Reset to defaults"
- All settings in the tab reset to default
- Repeat for each device
This tests that Behaviour of xfce4 mouse settings works
- Click the "Behavior" tab
- Adjust the "Threshold" bar, then drag and drop something
- The distance before something starts draging increases and decreases
- Adjust the "Time" bar, then double click something
- The maximum time between clicks increases and decreases
- Adjust the "Distance" bar, then double click something, moving the mouse slightly between clicks
- The distance the mouse can move between clicks and it still be a double click changes
This tests that Themes of xfce4 mouse settings works
- Click the "Themes" tab
- Click a Theme
- A preview of each cursor appears under the heading "Preview"
- Change the "Cursor size"
- Move the cursor outside the current window
- The cursor is in the new theme and size
- Repeat for each cursor theme
The following test is optional, depending on hardware
This tests that the touchpad settings work
- Click the "Devices" tab
- Click the "Touchpad" tab
- Tick "Disable touchpad while typing", type somewhere
- The touchpad disables while you type
- Untick "Disable touchpad while typing", type somewhere
- The touchpad no longer disables while you type
- Untick "Tap touchpad to click", tap on the touchpad
- Tapping on the touchpad does nothing
- Tick "Tap touchpad to click", tap on the touchpad
- Tapping on the touchpad does the same as clicking
- Click the radio button "Disabled", try scrolling on something
- Nothing happens
- Click the radio button "Edge scrolling", try scrolling on something
- Scrolling only works when you scroll with the very edge of the touchpad
- Click the radio button "Two-finger scrolling", try scrolling on something
- Scrolling only works when you scroll with two fingers pressed to the touchpad
- Tick "Enable horizontal scrolling", horizonatally scroll something
- The touchpad scrolls horizontally
- Untick "Enable horizontal scrolling", horizonatally scroll something
- The touchpad doesn't scroll horizontally
- Repeat for each touchpad device
